One soldier killed, nine others injured after lightning strike in Georgia

One U.S. soldier is dead and nine others were injured after being hit by lightning on Wednesday. The condition of the nine soldiers was not made available.


The military personnel were conducting a field training exercise at Fort Gordon, located southwest of Augusta, Georgia.


There is a slight risk of severe thunderstorms in the area today.


Fort Gordon was established in October 1941. It is the current home of the United States Army Signal Corps, United States Army Cyber Command, and the Cyber Center of Excellence.
