Over 1,600 dead in Myanmar earthquake

The death toll from the earthquake in Myanmar has risen substantially since Friday.
There are 1,655 fatalities, 3,478 injuries, and 218 people missing. There have been 77 aftershocks so far, the strongest of which was a 6.7.
The 7.7 magnitude earthquake hit Myanmar. The earthquake was felt in Myanmar, Bangladesh, India, Laos, Thailand, and China.
The earthquake caused extensive damage in Myanmar and significant damage in neighboring Thailand. Hundreds of homes were also damaged in Yunnan, China.
The earthquake occurred at 12:50 p.m. local time on Friday at a depth of 10 km and was located 16.0 km north-northwest of Sagaing, Myanmar.
