Parts of India Reach 50 Degrees Celsius


Temperatures in the northern part of India have spiked to about 50 degrees celsius (122°F). The weather is not expected to cool down anytime soon.


Rajasthan reached 50 degrees Celsius on Tuesday. The states of Haryana, Punjab, and Uttar Pradesh recorded temperatures around 40 degrees celsius.


Parts of the country are seeing the hottest May in 20 years.


In New Delhi, the temperature hit a record 47.6 celsius.


No deaths have been reported so far.


The hot weather is expected to persist several more days.
