Preliminary look at Newfoundland rainfall forecast

There is still a question as to how much rain will fall across Newfoundland on Wednesday and Thursday.

It looks like the heaviest rain will fall across the south coast of the Island. Places such as Marystown and Port aux Basques could see 50 to 80 mm of rain. The northern Avalon including St. John's will probably see about 40 to 60 mm. Central will only receive about 20 to 30 mm. The west coast will receive anywhere from 30 to 50 mm.

There will likely be some thunderstorms as well, which will add to rainfall totals. There is still the possibility that some regions, particularly the south coast, could see 100 mm of rain.

Winds will gust between 70 and 100 km/h.

This forecast is subject to change.
