Severe storms expected across swath of southern and eastern United States


Severe thunderstorms are expected later today and tonight from Arkansas to Louisiana to Texas and from the Ozarks into the Ohio Valley and Tennessee Valley.


These storms will have to potential for tornadoes, strong winds, and hail.


The area at the greatest risk of tornadoes is from northern Arkansas and southern Missouri.


Strong winds are possible from northeastern Texas and Ohio. Strong winds are also possible across New York state.


There could be hail across eastern Oklahoma, Arkansas and Missouri.
