Storm moves out of Nova Scotia but continues in Newfoundland

Precipitation has come to an end across most of Nova Scotia.


Snow continues across Cape Breton. Amounts of 30 to 50 cm is expected for northern Cape Breton by this evening. Eastern Cape Breton is seeing strong winds with gusts up to 100 km/h before winds begin to ease late this afternoon.


Snow, rain and ice pellets are causing problems in Newfoundland today.


For the Avalon and Burin Peninsulas, snowfall amounts of 15 to 25 cm are expected. Precipitation in some areas has transitioned to ice pellets, with a transition to rain expected later today. Conditions will improve early this evening. On the northern Avalon Peninsula, winds will gust from 80 to 100 km/h this evening until early Thursday morning.


Areas such as Clarenville and vicinity, Bonavista Peninsula, Terra Nova, and Connaigre will see 30 to 40 cm of snow and wind gusts from 80 to 100 km/h before an improvement this evening.


Significant snowfall continues in central Newfoundland and the Bay of Exploits. Amounts of 15 to 30 cm is expected before the snow ends near midnight tonight.
