A major change in the weather pattern is afoot in the Prairie provinces as an area of low pressure is expected to develop over Montana on Monday and will bring heavy snow and strong winds to most of the Prairies this week.
Overnight, snow will move into Alberta and pick up in intensity on Monday afternoon. The snow will spread to the Saskatchewan border by Monday evening. Snowfall amounts of 10 to 20 cm are possible for most areas, with the exception of the extreme northern sections of Alberta.
Strong winds associated with the low will result in blowing snow on Monday night and Tuesday morning.
From Tuesday to Thursday, snow will impact Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Snowfall amounts of 15 to 25 cm appear likely. There could be some freezing rain across southern Saskatchewan and southern Manitoba.
