Stormy Weather Continues in Atlantic Canada

Heavy rain is continuing across parts of the Maritimes this morning. The good news is that the rain will come to an end this afternoon across most of the Maritimes.

Rain will make it to most of Newfoundland tonight. About 5 to 10 mm is expected for most areas with the exception of the south coast where up to 60 mm is possible, especially on the Burin and Connaigre Peninsulas.

Winds will gust between 50 and 60 km/h today and this evening. Gusts to 100 km/h are possible in the Wreckhouse area.

In Labrador, we have a mix of snow, rain, and freezing rain. Western Labrador will see freezing rain this morning before temperatures warm up. Up to 20 cm of snow is possible by Thursday in Nain and vicinity. 20 to 30 mm of rain is possible in areas under a rainfall warning.

Lake Melville School, Mealy Mountain Collegiate, Peacock Primary School, and Queen of Peace Middle School in Labrador are closed for the morning with an update to follow regarding afternoon classes.
