Stormy weather persists across Quebec and Atlantic Canada

Quebec

Along the St Lawrence Valley, the Laurentians, the Eastern Townships, the Beauce, and the Laurentians Wildlife Reserve, visibility will be reduced to near-zero locally, in snow and blowing snow today.


The Lower St. Lawrence and the Gaspé Peninsula will see total snowfall amounts of 40 to 70 centimetres and wind gusts to 90 km/h from now until Tuesday morning.


For the North Shore, 15 to 30 centimetres of snow is expected with moderate to strong winds until Tuesday morning.


Maritimes

Central and northern New Brunswick will receive up to 15 cm and wind gusts between 60 to 80 km/h, except up to 100 km/h along exposed areas of the Bay of Chaleur coast until this afternoon.


Across eastern New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and Nova Scotia, wind gusts between 80 and 100 km/h are expected today until Tuesday morning.


Newfoundland

From Bay St. George to Gros Morne, Burgeo to Ramea up to 10 cm of snow is possible and winds will gust between 60 to 70 km/h, except 120 to 140 km/h in the areas prone to enhanced easterlies along the west coast, except in the Wreckhouse area where gusts could reach 150 km/h this morning.


On the Northern Peninsula East 10 to 15 cm, except 30 cm of snow south of Hare Bay and inland areas is expected late this afternoon into Tuesday afternoon.
