Stormy weekend ahead for Atlantic Canada


The remnants of Nicole will merge with a cold front and bring some very stormy weather to portions of Atlantic Canada.


The system will bring rain, snow, strong winds, and unsettled marine weather.


New Brunswick

Across New Brunswick, very heavy rain is expected. Rainfall amounts of 50 to 100 mm is possible in some areas.


Winds will gust between 70 and 90 km/h.


The rain will start on Saturday and continue through Monday in some areas.


Prince Edward Island

Rain and wind is expected on Saturday. Rainfall amounts of 30 to 50 mm is expected.


Nova Scotia

Nova Scotia will see some wind gusts between 60 and 80 km/h.


Rain will linger throughout the weekend and will be heavy at times with rainfall amounts of 40 to 80 mm possible.


Newfoundland

Heavy rain is expected on Saturday across southern and eastern sections of the island. In these areas 50 to 100 mm of rain is possible. Across western Newfoundland and for northern coasts snow is expected. Over higher elevations, some places could see 20 cm of snow. Across central sections of Newfoundland, an area of freezing rain or ice pellets could develop.


Winds across the island will gust between 60 and 80 km/h.
