Strong earthquake near Volcano Islands

A 6.0 magnitude earthquake struck the Volcano Islands area of Japan on Monday afternoon.
The earthquake occurred at 2:55 p.m. local time at a depth of 20 kilometres. It was centred 870.0 kilometres north of Saipan, Northern Mariana Islands.
There was no tsunani threat.
The Volcano Islands have a relatively small population of 380, which is a Japan Self-Defense Forces air base. The Volcanic islands are highly active seismic areas.
