Strong earthquake off the northern Coast of Peru

There has been a magnitude 6.2 earthquake near the coast of northern Peru.

The earthquake struck 36.0 km west of Puerto Santa, Peru, at a depth of 66 km on Saturday at 9:51 p.m.

There were no reports of injuries or damage.

Peru is an extremely seismically active area and is one of the world's most earthquake-prone countries.
