Strong wind expected across parts of Newfoundland on Friday & Saturday

An area of low pressure is expected to develop east of Newfoundland on Friday.

As the low develops it will undergo a period of rapid intensification.

Strong winds are expected over the west coast, south coast, northeast coast, and the Avalon Peninsula on Friday and Saturday.

Along the west coast and portions of the south coast, gusts to 80 km/h appear likely. Over the Avalon Peninsula and the Bonavista Peninsula winds will be the strongest with gusts between 100 and 120 km/h.

The low will be accompanied by rain with the heaviest rain expected over the Avalon where over 30 mm is possible.
