System to bring stormy weather to northern Ontario


Stormy weather conditions are expected across northern Ontario. Snow, rain, freezing rain, and strong winds will impact the area on Thursday.


For areas south of Kenora to Thunder Bay and east to the Quebec border snow is expected. Amounts of 5 to 15 cm are possible tomorrow.


For sections of northeastern Ontario from Lake Superior east through Chapleau and Timmins to the Quebec border, heavy rain is expected. Some areas could see 30 to 50 mm of rain. As the temperature falls on Thursday night, rain could switch to freezing rain.


As the low pushes through winds in some locations will gust to 80 km/h.


Stormy weather will continue on Friday with snow expected from the Manitoba border south of Kenora eastward to Timmins and the Quebec border. 5 to 15 cm of snow is possible.


South of Timmins freezing rain is expected.


Power outages will be possible and driving conditions will be dangerous at times.
