Taiwan was rocked by a 6.0 magnitude earthquake on Wednesday afternoon at 5:47 p.m. local time.
The earthquake was centred 82.3 km east-southeast of Yujing, Taiwan and was at a depth of 10 km.
The earthquake was not only felt in Taiwan, but it was also felt in Japan, the Philippines, and China.
There were no immediate reports of any injuries or damage.
Taiwan is one of the most seismically active regions in East Asia. Taiwan sits at the boundary of two major tectonic plates — the Philippine Sea Plate and the Eurasian Plate. These plates collide and slide past each other, which generates frequent earthquakes.
