Texans See Astronomical Spikes in Power Bills

Now that most of the power outages have subsided in Texas, some residents are receiving astronomical electricity bills.

Some people received power bills totalling over $10,000. Some of these people didn't even have power.

Lawmakers are now investigating how power bills managed skyrocketed so much.

The spot price of wholesale electricity on the Texas power grid spiked more than 10,000% on Monday according to Reuters.

President Joe Biden on Friday issued a major disaster declaration for several Texas counties.

As of Sunday evening, there were 28,435 active power outages in Texas.

Overnight lows continue to dip into the twenties.
