Periods of rain are expected across parts of Ontario through today, with some areas at risk of localized flooding.

Total rainfall amounts of 15 to 40 millimetres are expected, with higher amounts possible in areas that experience embedded thunderstorms.

The rainfall could lead to flooding in low-lying areas, including roads, and may cause washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts. The rain is expected to taper off this evening.

Meanwhile, portions of the Greater Golden Horseshoe as well as eastern and southwestern Ontario are also expected to see rain continue through today.

Rainfall totals in those regions are forecast to be 10 to 15 millimetres, though localized higher amounts could occur if thunderstorms develop.
