Toddler Killed After Being Left in Hot Car in BC for Nine Hours

A 16-month-old boy is dead after being left in a hot car for nine hours.

On Thursday in Burnaby, BC the boy was locked in the vehicle as the temperature outside soared to 21 degrees. Cars get extremely hot when it is warm outside. Inside the car, the air is trapped, so it heats up to the same temperature as the car.

Both parents are cooperating with the investigation.

RCMP says the child was unconscious when first responders arrived.

The BC Coroners Service is also investigating.
