Tornado threat across southern U.S. as severe storms take aim

On Monday, severe thunderstorms are expected to fire up across the southeastern United States.

Strong storms are expected from southeast Texas across the central Gulf Coast. Storms will develop in the afternoon and last into Tuesday morning.

These storms will be capable of producing strong wind gusts and tornadoes. The greatest severe potential is anticipated overnight from southeast Louisiana across southern Mississippi and southern Alabama, and into the western Florida Panhandle.

On Tuesday, the severe threat shifts east with thunderstorms expected to impact much of the eastern Gulf and southern Atlantic Coast states. There will be a risk of damaging wind gusts and tornadoes.
