Tropical Cyclone Impacting the Horn of Africa


Tropical Cyclone Pawan is currently impacting the Horn of Africa.


The heavy rain that is lashing the is raising fears of more flooding.


Heavy rain and gusty wind are expected this weekend. Some areas could see 250 mm of rain this weekend.


Presently, there are two other storms off the coast of Africa. Tropical Cyclone Ambali and Tropical Cyclone Belna. Both are situated to the north and northeast of Madagascar.


On 2 December, the depression formed over the southwestern Arabian Sea.


It strengthened into a deep depression on 3 December owing to favourable conditions.


Sea surface temperatures are well above average in the Indian Ocean.
