Tsunami advisory issued for portions of Alaska Coast

An 8.0 magnitude earthquake has occurred 315 miles SW of Bering I., Komandorski at a depth of 74 kilometres.
A tsunami Advisory is now in effect which includes the coastal areas of Alaska from Samalga Pass, Alaska (30 miles SW of Nikolski) to Attu, Alaska.
Tsunami advisories mean that a tsunami capable of producing strong currents or waves dangerous to people in or very near the water is expected. Significant widespread inundation is not expected for areas under an advisory. Currents may be hazardous to swimmers, boats, and coastal structures and may continue for several hours after the initial wave arrival.
A tsunami watch has been issued for Hawaii.
Tsunami waves are possible within the next three hours along some coasts of Russia and Japan.
Pacific coastal regions outside California, Oregon, Washington, British Columbia, and Alaska should refer to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center messages for information.
