There is a tsunami threat for portions of Chile.
A 7.5 magnitude earthquake occurred in the Drake Passage at 12:59 p.m. UTC. It was centred 219.5 km south of Ushuaia, Argentina, at a depth of 10 km.
Hazardous tsunami waves are expected for Chile, with waves reaching 1 to 3 metres above tide level.
Waves of 0.3 to 1 metres are expected for some coasts of Antarctica.
