Two Cruise Ships Collide in Vancouver Harbour

There were some tense moments on a cruise ship in Vancouver harbour over the weekend.

The Nieuw Amsterdam was hit by the Oosterdam on Saturday morning.

It happened near Vancouver's Canada Place. The Nieuw Amsterdam was already docked.

The Nieuw Amsterdam departed on a seven-day trip to Alaska, while the Oosterdam left for Seattle.

Both ships only sustained minor damage.

There were no reports of any injuries. No other cruise itineraries were affected.

Nieuw Amsterdam is a Signature-class cruise ship for Holland America Line. Nieuw Amsterdam is the 81st ship to enter Holland America's service and the second largest Holland America ship at the time of her completion.

Oosterdam is a cruise ship of Holland America Line, a division of Carnival Corporation & plc. As the second addition to Holland America's Vista class of ships, Oosterdam is sister to MS Noordam, MS Westerdam, and MS Zuiderdam.
