Two killed, thousands without power as severe storms roll across Southern Ontario

There are downed trees and widespread damage across portions of southern Ontario as severe thunderstorms tore through the region today.

At this time officials have confirmed two deaths attributed to severe weather. A woman was killed in Brampton after she was struck by a falling tree. The second person was killed when a tree fell on a camping trailer at Pinehurst Lake Conservation Area.

Hydro One crews are responding to multiple outages through southwestern and central Ontario. As of 6:10 PM ET, Hydro One says 341,058 customers are impacted by outages.

Severe weather has moved out of the region and alerts have ended, but there is still a risk of thunderstorms tonight.
