Up to 20 cm of Snow Possible in Eastern NL #nlwx

An area of low pressure will push into eastern Newfoundland late this afternoon and will bring another dose of snow to the area.

The snow will continue overnight and through Monday morning before tapering off near noon.

In the heaviest snow, up to 20 centimetres are possible. Winds will also gust to 60 km/h at times which will cause blowing snow and reduced visibility.

There is a winter storm warning in effect for St. John's and vicinity and blowing snow advisories for the Avalon Peninsula North, Avalon Peninsula Southeast, Avalon Peninsula Southwest, and the Burin Peninsula.

Snowfall Forecast:

  • St. John's 10 to 15 cm

  • Carbonear 5 to 10 cm

  • Old Perlican 5 to 10 cm

  • Placentia 5 to 10 cm

  • Cape Race 8 to 12 cm
