A strong area of low pressure will push across Newfoundland on Wednesday and Wednesday night.

Some areas of Newfoundland could end up with significant amounts of snow.

The precipitation we are seeing today is associated with this low.

Precipitation is falling as mostly rain today. Overnight, the precipitation will change to snow. Strong winds are also expected.

Generally, 5 to 15 mm of rain expected across the Island today.

Things change overnight along the west coast when winds pick up and the temperatures drops, changing the rain to snow.

Heavy snow is possible along the west coast. 15 to 20 cm of snow is expected in the Corner Brook area.

Along portions of the west coast, winds may gust to 100 km/h, gusts to 120 km/h is expected in the Wreckhouse area.
