What to see in the October sky


This month there will be several events to watch for in the night sky.


In the evening sky the Moon will be below Saturn on the 5th, below Jupiter on the 8th, and below Mars on the 14th. All three planets will be visible with a telescope. Mars will appear orange.


On October 12th Mercury will be the most visible as a morning star this year.


On October 25 there will be a partial solar eclipse, the eclipse will not be visible from North America but will be a treat for most of Europe, northeastern Africa, and parts of Asia.

  • New Moon October 25
