Widespread storm to bring multiple hazards to Ontario, Quebec, and Atlantic Canada

Ontario

Rainfall amounts of 20 to 40 mm are expected today across Southern Ontario this morning and lasting through the day.


Snowfall amounts of 10 to 20 cm and blowing snow is expected across portions of northeastern Ontario this morning through tonight.


For the Bancroft area through to Ottawa, an extended freezing rain event is expected. Freezing rain cloud possibly last up to 24 hours for some areas. Ice accretion or build up of 10 to 20 mm is possible. The freezing rain will start early this morning and last through tonight.


Quebec

Total freezing rain amounts of 20 to 30 millimetres is expected for Greater Montreal, Outaouais, Lanaudière, Laurentians, Parc du Mont-Tremblant, Mauricie, Québec City area and will paralyze some services. Freezing rain gets underway today and will last to Thursday morning.


Total freezing rain amounts of 10 to 20 millimetres is expected today for Montérégie, Drummondville, Northern Eastern Townships, Beauce and Montmagny.


Many areas will see significant snowfall with 15to 25 cm expected for Témiscamingue, La Vérendrye Wildlife Reserve, Parent-Gouin Reservoir, Abitibi, Matagami and Chibougamau. 20 to 30 cm is expected for La Tuque, Laurentian Wildlife Reserve, Charlevoix, Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean, Lower St. Lawrence and the Gaspé Peninsula. Manicouagan, Escoumins, Baie-Comeau, and Sept-Îles will receive 30 to 40 cm.


For Minganie, Natashquan and the Lower North Shore, 10 to 20 cm of snow is expected along with 2 to 5 mm of freezing rain.


Maritimes

Northern New Brunswick will see snow and ice pellets with 15 to 25 cm expected, this will be followed by 5 mm of freezing rain duration this afternoon until noon Thursday.


Freezing rain is expected. across central and much of southern New Brunswick late this evening until Thursday morning with 10 to 15 mm possible.


Freezing rain is also expected across Western Prince Edward Island overnight into Thursday morning.


A combination of snow, ice pellets, freezing rain, and rain is expected. Time span: this afternoon until Thursday afternoon for extreme southern New Brunswick.


Newfoundland

Western, central, and northern Newfoundland including parts of the northeast coast will see snowfall of 15 to 25 cm followed by 3-7 mm of freezing rain and strong winds overnight tonight and Thursday.


Thursday and Thursday night, significant rainfall is expected after a period of snow, ice pellets, and freezing rain for the Southwest coast. Total rainfall of 15 to 25 mm is expected with possibly 50 mm in Burgeo - Ramea.


A combination of snow, ice pellets, and freezing rain is expected for the east coast of Newfoundland. Potential snow and ice pellet amounts of 5 to 15 cm are possible and 2 to 5 mm of freezing rain overnight tonight until Thursday evening.
