Wildfire Smoke Expected Across Most of Western & Central Canada


Smoke from the wildfires will be prevalent from British Columbia to western Quebec today.


The air quality will be the worst in southern British Columbia and extreme southwestern Alberta. Lesser amounts of smoke are expected in central and northern British Columbia, most of Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba. Smoke will slowly drift across northern Ontario and western Quebec.


Wildfires across California, Oregon and Washington continue to burn. At least 35 people have died from the fires. That number is expected to rise.


Poor air quality is expected to linger for weeks.

When air quality gets above 10, Environment and Climate Change Canada recommend's avoiding strenuous activities outdoors. Children and the elderly should also avoid outdoor physical exertion. you should also reduce or reschedule strenuous activities outdoors, especially if you experience symptoms such as coughing and throat irritation.
