Wildfires Burning Through Largest National Park in Poland
Wildfires are burning through the largest National Park in Poland. About 10 percent of Biebrza National Park in in flames.
Hundreds of firefighters are attempting to get the blazes under control. Officials with the Environment Ministry said the fire was most likely caused by farmers illegally burning grass in the area.
On top of this, Poland is experiencing its worst droughts in decades.
The fire may burn for months to come.
Biebrza National Park is the largest National Park in Poland. Its total area is 592.23 square kilometres, of which forests cover 155.47 square kilometres. Poland has 23 National Parks.
