24 Killed in Angola Flooding

Officials in Angola have said that 24 people have died from flooding in Luanda. Thousands more are displaced.

Homes are damaged, buildings collapsed, health centres, schools, and bridges were also underwater.

Rain is not uncommon in Luanda in April. It is the rainiest month with an average of 136 mm over the span of the month. The short rainy season in March and April depends on a northerly counter current bringing moisture to the city according to Travel to Africa.

Over the next couple of days, more rain is expected on Sunday with sporadic showers on Monday.
