A Very Different Remembrance Day
This year Remembrance Day will look a lot different. There will be few if any, ceremonies happening across Canada due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Some locations have opted to hold ceremonies by invitation only.
Remembring those who have fought and gave the ultimate sacrifice for Canada doesn't need to be done at a cenotaph. You can observe two minutes of silence regardless of where you are.
To allow residents to pay their respects and to recognize this important day without a mass gathering, the Legion in St. John's encourages citizens to observe a moment of silence at your front door.
In Ottawa, the traditional tribute will be made with a special edition of the symbolic fly-past.
It will also mark the 75th anniversary of the end of the Second World War.
The Remembrance Day Ceremony has played a major role in Remembrance since 1931.
