Diesel Plant Fire Knocks out Power in Charlottetown and Pinsent's Arm NL



NL Hydro is reporting a power outage for the communities of Charlottetown and Pinsent's Arm on the southern Labrador Coast.


The power has been out since 5:30 am this morning.


The reason for the power outages is because the diesel plant that provides power is on fire.


Firefighters are at the scene and seem to have the fire under control.


The road is blocked and residents are asked to stay home and stay away from the area.


The town does not have a backup generator.


Crews are on-site investigating. The estimated time of restoral is to be determined.


Charlottetown is a town of about 290 residents.
