A low pressure system is expected to move across Ontario on today, bringing snow, blowing snow and strong winds to several regions, potentially creating hazardous travel conditions.
In northern, central, southwestern and eastern Ontario, snowfall totals of up to 15 centimetres are possible. Blowing snow may reduce visibility and make travel difficult. There is also a risk of localized power outages.
In parts of southwestern Ontario, strong southwesterly winds with gusts up to 90 km/h are expected on Friday. Loose objects could be tossed by the wind.
Across northern, southwestern and eastern Ontario, including the Greater Golden Horseshoe, snowfall amounts of up to 10 centimetres are forecast. Gusty southwesterly winds reaching up to 80 km/h are also expected in southwestern areas. While the strong winds may create some impacts, temperatures near the freezing mark could allow the snow to mix with rain later in the day, reducing the likelihood of blowing snow.
Meanwhile, parts of southwestern Ontario and the north shore of Lake Ontario are expected to see southwesterly wind gusts up to 80 km/h. These winds may toss loose objects.
