Mayon Volcano in Philippines spewing lava

The Mayon Volcano located in the province of Albay in Bicol, Philippines has forced the evacuation of thousands of people after lava was seen spewing from it.
The volcano was spewing lava as of Sunday and it continued on Monday. While thousands of people have fled the area, many have chosen to stay.
A state of emergency has been declared for Albay.
The Philippines is home to 24 active volcanoes. The last time the Mayon Volcano erupted was in 2018.
The Mayon Volcano is considered an active stratovolcano. The area is a popular tourist spot. The volcano is renowned for its "perfect cone" because of its symmetric conical shape.
