Residents of California are reeling from a series of atmospheric rivers that brought heavy rain and strong winds to the state on Wednesday.
There have been floods, landslides, debris flows, and rapidly rising creeks and rivers. Areas that have been recently burned in Southern California, including the Airport, Bridge, Line, Palisades, and Eaton Fire burn scars, face an increased threat of mudslides and debris flows as heavy rain continues.
Governor Gavin Newsom issued a state of emergency in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego, and Shasta counties.
California will continue to see rain today. There is a slight risk of flash flooding today across southern California, along with strong winds and some embedded thunderstorms, especially near the coast.
More heavy snow is expected for the high terrain of the Sierra Nevada before the snow tapers off tonight.
Conditions will improve over the weekend.
