Post-Tropical Cyclone Isaias Impact on Canada

From the last and final NHC advisory maximum sustained winds were near 65 km/h with higher gusts. Isaias has transitioned to a post-tropical cyclone.

The winds are expected to drop below tropical-storm force this morning. The post-tropical cyclone is expected to dissipate over Quebec or Labrador tomorrow.

Minimal impacts are expected, winds may gusts to 50 km/h over western New Brunswick and parts of Quebec including the Eastern Townships, Quebec City and areas along the St. Lawrence River. Gusts up to 70 km/h are possible this afternoon for The Eastern Townships and Gaspe Peninsula.

The Canadian Hurricane Centre says that the St. Lawrence River valley from Montreal to Trois-Rivieres has received up to 60 mm of rain, and may possibly peak to 90 mm locally. The main band of rain is north of the St. Lawrence and is weakening as the system moves across the river and to points north.

Along the southwestern portion of New Brunswick wave heights of just 2 to 3 metres are expected.
