Rain and Wind Heading Toward Atlantic Canada


A low pressure system will push across Atlantic Canada today and over the next couple of days.


The rain has already started across southern Nova Scotia and southern New Brunswick.


Rain arrives in Prince Edward Island this evening and then to Newfoundland on Wednesday afternoon.


The heaviest rain will fall over southern Nova Scotia, southeastern New Brunswick, and Prince Edward Island. In these areas 20 to 30 mm is possible.


Rain will continue through the weekend.


Rain may mix with snow at times across western and northern New Brunswick. In central and western Newfoundland (specifically the Long Range Mountains) rain will mix with, or change to snow. Some areas could see 5 to 10 cm of snow, mainly the Green Bay-White Bay area.


There is a Wreckhouse wind warning in effect for Channel-Port aux Basques and vicinity. Gusts up to 110 km/h will develop in the Wreckhouse area early Wednesday morning. These winds are expected to diminish below warning criteria by early Wednesday evening.


There is also a Les Suêtes wind warning in effect for Inverness County - Mabou and north. Les Suetes winds gusting up to 110 km/h are expected Wednesday morning.
