Sobeys Will Eliminate Plastic Bags at the end of the Month

Starting at the end of this month, all Sobeys locations will be eliminating plastic bags.

Once January 31 rolls around, customers will either have to bring their own bags or can purchase one in store.

Shoppers may purchase a paper bag for 10 cents or purchase a reusable one.

This move is expected to remove 225 million plastic bags from landfills every year.

Sobeys Inc. is the second-largest food retailer in Canada, with over 1,500 stores operating across Canada under a variety of banners.
