Toronto to Declare a Climate Emergency
Toronto Mayor John Tory says that the time has come for Canada's largest city to declare a climate emergency.
The City of Toronto will be among the over 800 planning to make the same declaration.
It will need to be adopted by the city council on October 2.
By declaring a climate emergency, nothing of significance actually happens and it is mostly a symbolic move.
Toronto has a plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 80% by the year 2050.
