Tropical Cyclone #Sarai Hits #Fiji

Tropical Cyclone Sarai has hit Fiji bringing winds up to 140 km/h and flooding rain.

2,000 people were forced to evacuate low-lying areas.

Tropical Cyclone Sarai destroyed homes, uprooted trees, and brought down power lines.

Several crops were destroyed.

Low-lying areas were also flooded.

Hundreds of flights were cancelled.

As the cyclone passed very close to the main Fijian island of Viti Levu on December 27th and brought very heavy rainfall (as indicated by radar imagery), the FMS warned of the probability of damaging gale-force and storm-force winds and very heavy rainfall at times.
