Up to 50 cm of snow possible for parts of Ontario

A winter storm continues to impact northern Ontario. Snow squalls and strong winds are expected for Southern Ontario.
Wednesday
Areas northeast of Lake Superior will see snow today and Thursday. Snowfall amounts up to 40 cm are possible with additional amounts on Thursday.
Parts of Northern Ontario will see 15 to 30 cm today and more on Thursday. Highways 17, 11 and 101 may be affected.
Parts of northern and far northeastern Ontario will also see snow today. Snowfall amounts of 10 to 15 cm are possible with additional amounts on Thursday, specifically for areas in far Northeastern Ontario.
Across Southern Ontario, winds will gust between 70 and 90 km/h this afternoon. The strongest winds are expected along Lake Erie and near Picton.
Thursday
Snow and blowing snow will continue on Thursday over northeastern and far northeastern Ontario. Additional amounts closer to 30 cm are expected for areas in the far northeast and 15 cm for other areas in the northeast.
Northeastern and far northeastern Ontario will see an additional 10 to 20 cm of snow. The snow will taper to flurries Thursday night or Friday morning.
Snow squalls are expected for parts of southern Ontario downwind of Lake Huron and Georgian Bay. 5 to 15 cm of accumulation is possible. Portions of southern Ontario and downwind of Lake Nipigon could also see snow squalls with similar amounts possible.
Locations northeast of Lake Erie and Lake Ontario will see wind gusts to 80 km/h on Thursday morning and into the afternoon hours. The strongest winds are expected just northeast of Lake Erie and Lake Ontario.
