Update on the Atlantic Canada Storm

Precipitation from the latest Atlantic storm is largely cleared from the region.


There is still snow falling and will continue to fall across western Newfoundland. Another 10 to 15 centimetres is expected over the course of today.


Snow is also falling over central Nova Scotia this morning.


Across northern, eastern, and southern Newfoundland, winds are gusting to near 100 km/h. In Nova Scotia, the winds are beginning to diminish.


Several areas saw mixed precipitation and as a result, there were several power outages.


Power outages as of 9:30 am NT/9:00 AT:

  • New Brunswick 487 customers

  • Prince Edward Island 2 customers

  • Nova Scotia 46,525 customers

  • Newfoundland and Labrador No outages


Marine Atlantic says that the Port aux Basques to North Sydney crossing scheduled for Saturday, February 08, 2020, at 11:45 am is now scheduled to depart Saturday, February 08, 2020, at 3:00 pm.
