Mount Aso has erupted in Japan and is spewing ash.

The volcano is located in Aso Kujū National Park in Kumamoto Prefecture, on the island of Kyushu.

The Japan Meteorological Agency has issued a Level 3 warning for Aso City, Takamori Town, and Minamiaso Village. A Level 3 warning means do not approach the volcano and refrain from entering the danger zone.

Local authorities say there are no injuries and everyone is accounted for so far.

Mount Aso is the largest active volcano in Japan and is one of the largest in the world.

There are 110 active volcanoes in Japan. The country is located within The Pacific Ring of Fire, a region around much of the rim of the Pacific Ocean where many volcanic eruptions and earthquakes occur.
