A weather system will move across Newfoundland and Labrador giving most of us a white Christmas.
On Monday night snow will spread across southern Labrador and spread across Newfoundland.
The heaviest snow is expected over the Avalon and coastal areas.
Snowfall forecast:
St. John's: 20 to 30 cm
Marystown: 10 to 15 cm
Gander: 15 to 25 cm
Port aux Basques: 10 to 15 cm
Corner Brook: 10 to 15
St. Anthony: 2 to 4 cm
Happy Valley-Goose Bay: 3 to 5 cm
Labrador City: 5 cm
The system will be accompanied by strong winds also with gusts to 90 km/h expected over some exposed coastal areas of Newfoundland and gusts to 60 km/h inland.
Another, and likely more powerful, snow event could be on the horizon beginning on Thursday and continuing into Friday. Details on that system are forthcoming.
