Several tornadoes were reported in Manitoba and Saskatchewan over the weekend. On Sunday several severe thunderstorms impacted Manitoba bringing heavy rain, large hail, and tornadoes. On Friday, a thunderstorm impacted the Summerside area of Prince Edward Island. Based on information gathered by Environment and Climate Change Canada in collaboration with the Northern Tornadoes Project, the storm produced a strong downburst with an EF-0 rating, with localized wind gusts possibly exceeding 100 km/h. Canada is providing $5 million in humanitarian assistance funding to support emergency relief efforts in Nepal. This funding will support the delivery of life-saving assistance, such as emergency food, shelter, water, sanitation and health services, which will be delivered through UN, Red Cross and Canadian NGO partners.
